Telemetry Technician - Progressive Care Unit @ Swedish Edmonds

Full Time (36 Hour Week)

Night Shift

12 Hour Shift

A member of the health care team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse provides efficient operation of a nursing unit by taking responsibility for the clerical functions and heart rhythm monitoring of patients.

Receptionist

  • Promptly answer telephones, intercoms, patient call lights and directs these calls to proper personnel. Acknowledge and greet visitors, patients, physicians and other employees.

  • Maintains work schedules for personnel on the unit, including recording absences, hours worked. Clears changes to schedule with Nursing Office as needed by the unit.

  • Maintains adequate levels of office and nursing supplies and forms. Completes requisitions as needed to maintain unit inventory.

Unit Secretary

  • Performs clerical duties related to procedures such as admission, discharge, and transfer of patients. Notifies appropriate departments of patients disposition; assembles and prepares appropriate charts and forms.

  • Ensures patient records are current and accurate. Ensures confidentiality of patient information. May transcribe MD orders from the physician order sheet to the cardex and MAR.

  • Coordinates the ordering of all diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients as directed. Coordinates appointments with respective departments. Route charts to departments as required for diagnostic and treatment procedures or consultation. Orders necessary equipment involved with patient care, i.e., back braces, splints, K-pads, alternating pressure mattress, etc.

  • Ensures all diet orders are accurate and ordered as required.

  • Updates and maintains department files and information.

  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment. Responds to emergency situations according to prescribed plans of action.

Monitor Tech

  • Answers alarms on computer and notifies nurse of life threatening or serious dystrythmia.

  • Participates in unit based Quality Improvement Program in an effort toward improving patient care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Coursework in medical terminology.

  • Coursework/Training: Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia Interpretation class with a score of at least 80% on final exam.

  • Coursework/Training: Individuals hired with previous monitor technician experience must pass a challenge exam with a score of 80%

  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent experience in an acute care facility or related work experience.
