Swedish Health Services Cardiac Electrophysiology Technologist in Seattle, Washington

Description

Cardiac Electrophysiology Technologist @ Swedish Cherry Hill

Assists the physician in the invasive testing and/or treatment of patients in the Electrophysiology Lab. Responsible for providing specialized technical support and assistance to the physician in the precise diagnostic mapping of patient-specific lesions, related testing and treatment of adult and pediatric patients. This position troubleshoots equipment problems and works closely with Clinical Engineering staff to maximize the functionality of the equipment and minimize downtime.

  • Provides technical expertise on the operation of all of the equipment used in the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab including monitoring, recording and mapping systems and equipment used for ablations. Demonstrates a functional understanding of the radiology imaging equipment.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the features of various catheters and other supplies used for EP procedures and is able to assist with complex cases.

  • Demonstrates a knowledge and ability to interpret complex cardiac rhythms during procedures in the EP lab.

  • Demonstrates a knowledge and ability to interpret hemodynamic pressures and wave forms.

  • Demonstrates the ability to safely scrub and assist the physician during the EP procedures including implantation of cardiac rhythm management device procedures.

  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians and coworkers. Is a patient advocate. Utilizes resources efficiently.

  • Documents complete and accurate information on all appropriate chart forms.

  • Anticipates the needs of the physician when scrubbed and has an in-depth understanding of the type of procedure and steps necessary to perform it.

  • Recognizes the patient’s age as a relevant factor and applies appropriate decision-making skills in the assessment, treatment, and care provided for the patient.

  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and works closely with Clinical Engineering staff to maximize equipment functionality and minimize downtown.

  • Participates in all procedures performed in the EP Lab.

  • Demonstrates ability to complete all billing/charging forms.

  • Demonstrates ability to work as a cohesive team member with all technologists, nurses, and physicians in a variety of roles to include scrub tech, circulating and recording.

  • Consistently demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, commitment to customer service principles and behaviors. Exemplifies behaviors described in the SMC’s Service Excellence Commitments.

  • Participates in the restocking and cleaning of the rooms.

Required qualifications:

  • If qualifying as Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist must be a graduate of a two-year invasive cardiology program or IBHRE endorsed certificate or degree program (at least twelve month duration) or equivalent

  • If qualifying as a Radiologic Technologist must be a graduate of a Radiologic Technology program

  • Washington Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certification upon hire or

  • Washington Radiologic Technologist upon hire

  • National Certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International upon hire or

  • National Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists upon hire

  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire

  • National Provider ACLS - American Heart Association upon hire

  • 1 year' If qualifying as Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist - recent Invasive Cardiology Laboratory experience or graduate of certificate or degree program in Electrophysiology

  • 2 years' If qualifying as a Radiologic Technologist must have cath lab/IR experience
