Swedish Health Services Chaplain - Palliative Care in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Group is looking for a Chaplain (0.2 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Palliative Care at Swedish Medical Group in First Hill, Washington.
Responsible, supportive work providing spiritual and emotional care to patients, families and staff of Swedish Health Services. Liaison between patients/families and community clergy as needed. Supports the needs of the Palliative care team and provides palliative care for hospital and ambulatory patients as needed. We are seeking a compassionate, collobrative team member to support the Issaquah campus 5 days per week (8:00am - 4:30pm).
In this position you will:
Demonstrates Swedish core values of respect, justice, compassion, stewardship, and excellence to customers, employees, and visitors; and provides quality service in the performance of work assignments and duties
Collaborates with members of the health care team in identifying and resolving issues. Acts as a liaison between patient, family, and hospital staff during periods of crisis, e.g. illness, dying, lengthy or difficult surgery.
Promotes spiritual/emotional support among staff and volunteers
Makes initial spiritual assessment. Provides spiritual and emotional support to patients/families
Evaluates patient needs for spiritual care and initiates or recommends individual programs and services to meet those needs. Integrates this plan of care into the interdisciplinary plan of care
Required qualifications for this position include:
Completion of 4 units of CPE or equivalent degree
Ordination or commissioning for chaplaincy
Endorsement by ecclesial body for chaplaincy
Current Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains or National Association of Jewish Chaplains; be provisional certified; or be eligible to obtain certification within 1-3 years of employment
Current valid driver’s license
Three (3) years experience in ministry
One (1) year medical setting with palliative care experience.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Completion of 4 units of M. Div or equivalent degree
Advanced Certification in Palliative Care
