Swedish Health Services Court Evaluator - Case Management - Ballard in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Swedish is calling a Court Evaluator (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) in the Case Management department at Swedish Ballard in Seattle, WA.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday; 8am-4:30pm PST. NO WEEKENDS OR MAJOR HOLIDAYS.

The Swedish Court Evaluator is responsible for providing forensic services to Swedish patients who are going through the involuntary treatment act (ITA) process. Such services shall include, but are not limited to, evaluation of identified patients, preparing the proper declarations and petitions, attending all necessary court hearings related to the patients, entering in relevant necessary notes into the patients' medical records and processing court orders and other related paperwork. Duties also include educating and guiding staff along ITA laws and regulations, liaising with King County and ITA Court representatives and engaging with Swedish Medical Center treatment team members for care planning, court preparation and alternative treatment measures.

In this position you will:

  • Work collaboratively with patients, families, court officials, county representatives, nurses, case managers, physicians, other practitioners, caregivers and community resources and agencies.

  • Communicate timely, relevant and accurate information to all parties Required qualifications for this position include: Preferred qualifications for this position include: involved with a patient’s care.

  • Facilitate the progression of ITA process per the patient’s treatment plan in order to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Integrate the patient’s treatment plan and the mission of Swedish Medical Center through internal and external relationships pertaining to ITA detentions and related matters.

  • Advocate on behalf of patients and caregivers for service access or creation, and for the protection of the patient’s health, safety and rights.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited school OR Ph.D. from an accredited school

  • Two (2) years experience in the areas of acute mental healthcare in an inpatient, outpatient or legal setting

  • One of the following is required: Licensed Social Work Independent Clinical (LSWIC), or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Psychologist

  • For LICSWs, compliance with the NASW Code of Ethics is required

  • For LMHCs, compliance with the AMHCA Code of Ethics is required.

  • For Psychologists, compliance with the APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct is required.
