Swedish Health Services Medical Education Coordinator - Surgical Residents in Seattle, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Medical Education Coordinator (1.0 FTE, Day shift) to work in the Surgical Residents at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

The Medical Education Cordinator coordinates and supports the activities of medical education training and assists the Directors in meeting and maintaining all of the standards and requirements of the accrediting bodies. Coordinates related visiting student rotations. Maintains confidential files related to training. Supervision of support staff may also be a function of this position. At the system level, responsibilities also include supporting the Resident Organization and New Resident Orientation. Supports resident recruitment, orientation, tracking, and related web-based applications and promotional materials.

In this position you will:

  • Coordinate GME rotations with medical or program director, and other parties as needed. Coordinate or assist with resident scheduling. Maintain current agreements with rotation sites, and track and report resident rotations. Track contracts with faculty, preceptors, affiliated training sites, and visiting rotations.

  • Coordinate or assist with recruitment, interviewing and selection of residents, fellows, externs, and visiting trainees. Track and provide recommendations for residents’ evaluation and, if necessary, disciplinary actions.

  • Coordinate or assist faculty with resident-related activities, such as orientations, special projects and events, and call schedules. Assist Chief Residents in duties, ensure good communication and facilitate smooth transitions.

  • Collaborate with the faculty in preparing and submitting reports for accreditation, faculty appointments, and departmental functions. Coordinate teaching conferences, clerkship clinic assignments, visiting lecturers, announcements, AV support, catering, grant collection, and other arrangements. Prepare Resident Manual, Policies, and accreditation reports. Maintain databases and website information for program and related educational organizations. Enter match data and coordinates centralized process for recruitment.

  • Compile and maintain records of faculty and resident evaluations, performance appraisals, and clerkship records and evaluations.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • 1 year of related experience and/or training

  • 1 year of working in a medically or educationally related field

  • Office procedure experience

  • Transcription experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree
