Swedish Health Services Pharmacy Technician in Seattle, Washington

Description

This position is responsible for supporting the practice of pharmacy, performing delegated tasks, and performing drug distribution, compounding, record keeping, and clerical activities under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

  • Interprets, assembles and labels prescriptions accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Understands the requirements for handling, distribution, inventory control and security of controlled substances and follows procedures.

  • Demonstrates proper infection control, hood cleaning, sterile technique, calculations and basic workflow of IV room.

  • Uses prepackaging equipment labels and records correctly.

  • Demonstrates proper technique in cleaning of the vertical flow hood and in preparations, labeling and disposal of chemotherapy.

  • Maintains a neat, clean and orderly work area.

  • Demonstrates competency in completing all assigned automated distribution duties and responsibilities.

  • Prepares and dispenses medications following approved procedures.

  • Checks patient record for pertinent information before processing order.

  • Refers appropriate clinical questions to a pharmacist.

  • Delivers medications and other pharmacy products within required time limits to inpatient areas, outpatient clinics, or satellite pharmacies. Includes crash, heart, and surgery carts.

Required qualifications:

  • Completion of an approved pharmacy technician training program.

  • Required upon hire: Washington Pharmacy Technician License

Preferred qualification:

  • 6 months Hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
