Swedish Health Services Respiratory Care Practitioner Lead in Seattle, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Respiratory Care Practitioner Lead (0.9 FTE, Night Shift) to work in Respiratory Therapy at Swedish First Hill Broadway 1 in Seattle, WA.

$10,000 Hiring Bonus for eligible external candidates who meet all conditions for payment - this is in addition to the fantastic benefits and compensation package offered by Swedish that begin on your first day of employment.

The Respiatory Care Practitioner Leader acts as a resource person for other employees. May train or communicate instructions to other employees, perform minor scheduling, and inspect work to separate acceptable work from unacceptable. Serves as a contact person in the absence of a supervisor or director. Does not hire, fire, discipline, promote, demote, transfer, or appraise performance.

In this position you will:

  • Explains purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to the patient.

  • Completes required Epic documentation, billing, scheduling and scanning as applicable.

  • Gives clear, informative report to relief personnel.

  • Adheres to departmental standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Assesses patients for appropriateness of therapy utilizing quality management guidelines and protocols.

  • Contacts managing LIP and documents on flowsheet, progress note, and plan of care suggestions for therapy as indicated.

  • Performs LIP prescribed treatments outlined in the scope of services in departmental structure standards.

  • Collaborates with medical and nursing staff for ongoing patient management.

  • Performs basic troubleshooting of malfunctioning equipment and notifies manager/coordinator/biomed of possible equipment repairs.Assures safe and efficient inpatient transport.

  • Reviews respiratory orders of assigned work load. Assures assigned therapy has current and accurate LIP order.

  • Maintains department in a clean, neat and orderly condition.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Must have completed Respiratory Care’s department orientation

  • Must be a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner with the Washington State Department of Health under Chapter 18.89 RCW

  • Must be registry eligible with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

  • New graduates qualify for temporary practice if they have complied with the Washington State Department of Health WAC 246-928-530

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate of an AMA approved respiratory care program

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials

  • Active member of the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC)

  • Six (6) months hospital based work experience, in the field of Respiratory Care
